What to do?
Eric | July 2nd, 2005 | 4:38 amSo, it seems that our visas are delayed due to an unfortunate mix-up with the application numbers. So we are anxious to get it all sorted out and on our way.
In the mean time, we decided to go down to Sarasota to visit the Ringling Museum. I didn’t know it, but the Ringling side of Ringling Bros. and Barnum/Baily Circus, lived in FL and had a huge estate. He collected a lot of art and donated the work and the estate to FL. So we took a drive down south. I was a little hesitant at first, as I assumed anything called the “Ringling Museum” would be, unfortunately, all about circus stuff. Frankly, I am more than just a little frightened of clowns, and a hot day in Florida looking at over-sized feet and rubber noses didn’t seem like a “fun day out”. Nicely it was a museum of 16th to 18th century art.

The grounds were covered in reproductions of scuptures, much like this one – although I have no idea what it was a repro of.

We also got to visit the old house called CÃ d’Zan on the estate where John and Mable lived. It was really over the top, but a great look at one of the grand estates of the ’20’s.
