Hoo boy, it’s noisy
Eric | February 23rd, 2006 | 11:28 amWe have been enduring the sounds of construction on the first floor of our building for weeks. They are putting in a new Woolworths, which is great because it is a drug store and a grocery store - and a good one. Currently we have to walk pretty far for a grocery store and double that for a good one.
But the noise! It’s excruciatingly loud. Here is an example:
And that’s what it sounds like inside the apartment with the windows and the patio door closed.
On top of that, shortly after I recorded that sound there was a blissful lull followed by this alarms signal.
Seems one of the crew downstairs accidentaly set off the fire alarm. This went on for about 15 minutes. The alarm speaker is not only in the hallway, but in each apartment too. I literally had to plug my ears, as it was painfully deafening.
The good news is that after they fixed it (and after the obligatory fire truck arrival) they went back to the hammering - no, wait, that’s bad news…
